Plateau State Government Implements Executive Order 003 to Combat Illegal Buildings and Traffic Congestion

Plateau State is taking proactive measures to address the challenges of unregulated construction and traffic congestion with the enforcement of Executive Order 003, signed by Governor Caleb Mutfwang. This executive order aims to enhance urban development and ensure public safety.

Key officials attended the enforcement, each providing valuable insights into the rationale behind the executive order.

Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Philemon Daffi, highlighted the legal perspective, stressing the importance of upholding regulatory standards to maintain order and safeguard citizens’ rights.

Mr. Samuel Dapiya, Director General of Plateau State Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA), emphasized the environmental implications, urging the need to mitigate adverse effects and preserve the state’s ecological balance.

Arch. Hart Bankat, General Manager of the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB), discussed the metropolitan planning needs driving the enforcement, emphasizing the importance of urban planning to ensure sustainable development and alleviate congestion.

Additionally, Commissioner for Information, Plateau State, shared details of the ministry’s prior sensitization efforts and encouraged community cooperation to improve residents’ quality of life and create a safe, organized urban environment.
